It is no secret that Wasaga Beach has seen better days. And although in my opinion it has already started its turn around we still have a long way to go.
Over the course of the last year or so The Town of Wasaga Beach has been working with JC Williams Group, a consulting firm, to create a new master plan. The plan has taken into consideration what and where the town should focus its attention on when considering developing a downtown core.
After attending the unveiling of the master plan presented at the Wasaga Beach Rec Plex I was more than satisfied and genuinely excited by the final product. To briefly summarize the plan, they propose two downtown areas. The first being a local downtown core to be known as “uptown” which will include local business’s and a town square. The proposed area for “uptown” is at the corner of Beck & Main St.
The second downtown, located at the main end will be geared towards Wasaga Beach’s seasonal tourism. The plan proposes shops, eateries, entertainment and a resort.
Although Wasaga Beach’s real estate market is and has been red hot over the better part of a year, a plan like this could drive the value of property in the area far beyond where it is already at. For more details on the Wasaga Beach Master Plan please see the link below.
